Gluecode’s original mission was to connect several pieces of software and as the name implied, “glue” them together to deliver a highly modular platform for executing Java apps. The strategy was to provide an enabling layer “the Gluecode” to simplify development by using standards-based framework for modularization using a plug-and-play approach.

With its strategic interception of market trends and executing rapidly on them, in May 2005, Gluecode was acquired by IBM adding it as its Community Edition to complete IBM’s Websphere suite.
